our roots

The district was founded under the name ‘La Colonización Rada y Gami’ on July 28, 1925 by German immigrant Leopoldo Krausse Killatt.

On November, 1944, the Pasco Department, the Oxapampa Province, and the Villa Rica district were created during the first government of President Manuel Prado Ugarteche.

We are part of the Oxapampa-Ashaninka-Yanesha Biosphere Reserve.
